Pottery Workshop with Ann Bates!

Ann Bates

Please bring along items to create texture on the clay such as shells, leaves, Lego bricks - anything to make an impression, should they wish to use them, that would be helpful.

Ann will bring along various pieces that she has made which people can replicate if they wish. She will also show/talk (briefly) about coiling, slab work (using a rolling pin, like pastry making) and pinch pots - any of these methods can be used to make a finished piece of work within the evening.

Ann will take the items away after the session, and when thoroughly dry, will biscuit fire them and return them to you. Members can then paint and or varnish them at leisure. It cannot be guaranteed that the items will be waterproof as the clay, at this stage, is still permeable.

If anyone has problems with eczema, it might be advisable to wear surgical gloves, as clay does tend to dry the hands.
